"Hi, I have a question about my jumping. When my horse takes off long to a jump I have a tendency to get left behind. Are there any exercises I can do to help me stay with my horse over the long jumps? Thanks, Bethanie."
H&C blogger and three day event rider Sharon Hunt replies: "Hi Bethanie, I'd suggest trying to make sure the weight is in your heels and you have a strong lower leg so that you are more balanced to begin with. Try to maybe lose some speed as well. It sounds as though you are taking off too far away, so you could be going too quickly. I would practice long distances so you learn to see a deeper stride, then the horse won't launch over the fence and unbalance you. Hope this helps. Sharon."
