Sacha Pemble is a professional event rider based near Paddock Wood in Kent. She owns her own competition yard from which she regularly competes during the eventing season in the UK and abroad. Her most noted successes include winning Punchestown CCI3* in May 2006, ninth at the Luhmuhlen CCI4* in June 2008 and tenth at the Luhmuhlen CCI4* in June 2009, riding 'I've Been Dun' at all of them. She has also had other successes abroad and in March 2008 she was second at the Barroca CCI3* and fourth at Barroca CCI2* both on Hyanie D’Aubrie. Sacha rides for Ireland and was chosen as reserve for the Irish 2008 Olympic squad at the Beijing.
What would you do if you didn’t work with horses? I would probably live somewhere hot, and may have looked to be an accountant.
Why did you decide to go into eventing? I love the adrenaline of the cross country.
How old were you when you first competed for Ireland? 32.
Who has the best yard you’ve visited? Brynley Powell, fantastic stables with a house on site.
What was the last thing you bought a ticket for? I bought a plane ticket to go to Spain to look at horses.
When was the last time you went on holiday? A few weeks ago to Perth in Australia, but before that it was three years ago.
Who is the person who inspires you the most? Blyth Tait and Caroline Powell.
Whose horse would you like to own? German rider Hinrich Romeike’s horse, ‘Marius’.
What do you think of the Eventing in 2012 being held at Greenwich Park? Silly, it is a waste of money as the site will not be used again. It was an opportunity to have an amazing facility in England forever, instead we will only have it for one competition.
When did you last kick yourself? Every day, I need to become better.
How do you relax? I relax of an evening watching CSI.
Who is the one to watch this year? I hope it will be me and my working pupil Tom Jackson.
What is your greatest achievement to date? Winning Punchestown CCI***.
What is your top tip for H&C website visitors? When times are bad, keep your head focused then in time it will improve.
