So in my last blog I was thrilled with my boys’ first event, and since then the boys have excelled themselves again. This time Master Eli and Andreas did the Novice at Moreton Morrell College. Eli was a little fresh in his dressage this time, but managed to jump another double clear to finish just outside the top ten - his eight time faults cost him a win but being only five-years-old that can wait for another day!

Scott Brash is having a great season, and currently lying in third place in the FEI world cup league

Scott Brash is continuing his good form and is currently in third place in the FEI World Cup league.

Double clear

The pair came fifth in the opening round last weekend and jumped a double clear at Helsinki yesterday (21 October) to take the fourth spot in the second leg. William Funnell, who also jumped a double clear with Billy Angelo, came fifth.

Scott tweeted after his win: "Am happy. He went great."

Scott Brash and Bon Ami on winning form in Oslo ©Ridehesten

Scott Brash is 10,000 Euros the richer after winning the 1.50m class at the Oslo horse show, riding Bon Ami.

In great shape

Twelve riders went into the jump-off and a fast pace was set by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson who was first to go with a clear round in 41.26 seconds. No other rider could quite catch him and it looked like he would win the class, until Scott came into the ring.

Last to go, the Olympic gold medallist knew exactly what he had to do to win the class and he rode a foot-perfect round in a faster time to beat the Swedish rider into second place.

A Scottish showjumper has won the West FM cream of Ayrshire award for up and coming youngster.

Money well spent

Aidan Coleman wins the Celebrity Hurry Scurry at HOYS

The final day of the Horse of the Year show (HOYS) finished in fine style, with an exciting day of top class competition and a very enthusiastic crowd.

Absolutely perfect

The big finale in the Andrews Bowen international arena was the leading showjumper of the year grand prix. It looked like it would be a Brit taking first and second place, but last to go was Holland’s Albert Zoer, riding Sam, who snatched victory from Scott Brash and Bon Ami.

In third place was William Funnell with Billy Congo – and there was less than a second between the three of them.

After five rounds of edge-of-the-seat action, Michael Londsdale (Loughnatousa WB) and Peter Murphy (Renkum Off Centre) shared first place in the Tagg Puissance at HOYS on Saturday.

Fall in the warm-up

Of the 12 combinations that started, just Peter and Michael remained to go head-to-head in the final round, facing a height of 7ft2in.
