“Now that I’m on a mission to get my horses qualified, we took Delboy (Headmore Delegate) to Crofton Manor to try and complete his qualification. As he had been added on to the equine pathway, we were incredibly privileged to have a lesson with triple Olympic gold medallist Monica Theodorescu on Monday 10 May. She is a lovely person and I really enjoyed my lesson, and Monica really liked Delboy and was very impressed with him, so I knew he was more than capable of getting big scores!
We took him to Crofton on Wednesday 12, hoping to get him qualified. It was the first time he had competed since the Winter Championships, so I was just wanted him to be back to ‘normal Del’ as I call it. Our first class was a medium, and both Mum and I were pleased with his test, it felt very secure and there were no mistakes, but I was mainly very pleased as Del was his normal rideable self. He won with a massive score of 73.53 per cent.
We then did the advanced medium, which was only his second ever advanced medium test. The changes were still a bit green but all happened in the right place, and the trot work felt phenomenal! He also won this test with a score of 72.1 per cent, completing his qualification.
Another bit of good news, Wizard’s full sister, Jaffa, had her foal on Friday night, a smashing chestnut colt named Bassenthwaite, or Basil for short.”
