Lizzie Drury has worked as an equine nutritionist for 16 years and is one of a few Registered Nutritionists in the UK. "My work is really varied and I spend a lot of time on the road. I could be visiting some clients at their yard, sitting writing some presentations or features or standing up and lecturing to some students or end users," says Lizzie.
"I enjoy the variety of what I do and that I am able to work with all types of horses and ponies and get lots of satisfaction in helping horse owners get the best from their horses and most of all getting to enjoy them," she adds.
Lizzie spends an increasing amount of time travelling abroad, working with professional riders across a wide range of disciplines advising on nutrition. She specialises in the nutrition and feeding of the elite endurance horse.
She has two horses of her own, a lovely dressage horse who has competed up to affiliated Medium level, and another who is due to have her first foal in July 2015. "It is very exciting as she is in foal to a young stallion with the Florencio and Sandro Hit bloodlines," says Lizzie, whose partner is an international show jumper. "I am the odd one out on a yard of show jumpers, in my white breeches and my bling!"
When she is not working or playing with horses, Lizzie will be found running around after her three-year-old daughter. "She'll undoubtedly be singing Frozen songs at the top her voice, so you usually hear us before you see us!"
