Michael Burdett

Michael Burdett is a passionate amateur angler. He is one of 12 members of the Dodgy Scale Club, a group of disparate but talented amateur anglers whose liking for old fishing tackle knows no bounds. Between them, they have over 450 years of fishing experience, but this is mainly due to one of the members being incredibly old. Much to the derision of his fishing colleagues, Michael has a soft spot for Winfield tackle, which was sold by Woolworths during the 60s and 70s.
By day, Michael is a composer. He writes theme and incidental music for adverts and television programmes, including the BBC’s Masterchef, Sun Sea and Bargain Spotting and Homes Under The Hammer. He is also the founder of Little Death Orchestra whose classical/electronica music appears on documentaries all over the world. He occasionally writes for fishing magazines under the pseudonym Benjamin Idrigill. He is particularly fond of catching barbel anywhere and wild brown trout from Welsh rivers. He is annoyed by his failure to catch an English salmon or a zander or a burbot or a gwyniad or a char or etc.
