Olympian Sharon Hunt made her debut in the British Eventing team as an individual at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen. She finished sixth at Badminton in the same year, and went one better in 2008 with a double clear to finish fifth on Tankers Town, cementing the combination’s Olympic team selection.

The pair helped Team GB to the bronze medal; Tankers Town, owned jointly with her parents, was bought as a four-year-old and produced by Sharon through the levels.

Sharon began riding at age seven, having started out on a beach donkey while on holiday with her grandparents. Her first pony followed and soon after she completed her first pre-novice event aboard Parkmore Bal.

In 1996, an ambitious Sharon went to train with Ruth McMullen in Norfolk, taking along four intermediate level horses. Whilst there, Ruth suggested she buy Good Sport II, then a four year old. The following year the combination won the Burghley Young Event Horse five-year-old championships and Sharon was well and truly in the spotlight.

2010 was an excellent year for H&C blogger Sharon with a major win at Luhmuhlen with Tankers Town, and a 33,000Euro prize. The combination also won at Chatsworth two weeks later. Although Tankers Town suffered injury at Pau later in the year, Sharon hopes to have him fit again soon and is currently concentrating on her string of horses in preparation for London 2012.

Sharon, who is now based near Tunbridge Wells in Kent, competes on horses of all levels and travels throughout the UK and beyond delivering keynote speeches, teaching and giving mounted demonstrations at a variety of equestrian, and corporate events. She is also a member of the World Class Performance squad, supported by UK Sport via National Lottery funding.
