"Luckily I have been kept very busy to keep my mind from Beanie (Breeze IV) after his XC accident. I learned though that he has fractured his hock in three places, something that may or may not heal well. I am devastated as he is obviously in a lot of pain and I feel completely helpless. I also have Dave (Mightaswell) on box rest as he has developed an infection in a bone, and is very uncomfortable too – again it is a waiting game and I will know more in a month…
But there has also been a lot of good too: I had some brilliant lessons with Anna (Ross-Davies) again; Kenny is really improving and so are Imp (Impulsive), Romeo (Romeo Z) and Jasper (Tankers Town). Jasper was preparing for a demonstration I gave on Thursday along with Imp and Romeo, who were all fantastically behaved and the students appeared to fall in love with all of them!
I also helped open the new Discovery Centre on Wednesday at the College of West Anglia, which is expanding rapidly. Here I had to talk about how the college has helped the area, students and employers such as myself (I currently employ two ex-students!) I also had a ride on the horse simulator, which was interesting, you can practise different paces and flying changes to leg yield!
I visited the links again with Kenny, who is very fit now. He finds it all rather easy – he is incredibly able at galloping and I am looking forward to the three-day but hope it is a three star as I feel he is ready. I will find out Monday so I have to pack the lorry as if I am leaving for France the next day at 5am but could find out I have one more week at home!
Maureen (Rogers) again came and helped me treat the horses with craniosacral. The horses are feeling fantastic – their body tone has completely changed and I find it both fascinating and exciting that I can help them myself so much. I really recommend people to find out about this and try it – you'll be amazed and very impressed... We are going to try and do a piece about it for H&C.
I competed at Keysoe on Saturday with Imp and Amber (Red Amber) again. As we had no rain for weeks, I was half expecting that I could just be show jumping but they had worked incredibly hard on the ground, aerovating and putting surface down over the top of the good grass cover. A very rewarding outcome I hope for them as I didn't see a withdrawal on the score board. Amber performed a very good test and again a double clear and finished 4th and Imp was much more relaxed, again the best test of the section and sadly just touched a fence SJ but jumped a relaxed effortless clear XC for 5th. Good result.
I watched the Europeans on Sunday – the British were brilliant, very impressive!! I started packing for whichever trip I'm going on – can't wait to hear which one…"
