"I had a reasonably quiet day today, as I want to be well rested for this week. In the last two nights, I've slept a total of 20 hours, which is unheard of for me – I must have needed it! I rode the horses with my rider, Tiffany, so she's all set while I'm at Badminton.
I jumped my young opposition horse (Brian, also known as Opposition Express) for his co-owner, Jane Bailey – he is very impressive and jumps straight around a course with no hesitation. Now he’s definitely ready for some competitions and XC schooling, which I'll do as soon as I get back.
I also took Jasper (Tankers Town), Bruno (Ultimate Opposition) and Dave (Mightaswell) to the gallops; Jasper feels fantastic and cruises up them, he feels as though he's peaked just at the right time. My physio, Jenny treated both me and Jasper so we're physically fit too. No stone is left unturned in our Badminton preparation!
I feel pretty relaxed and ready this year – I guess that comes with age, experience and good staff. I packed the remainder of my things in the lorry, so we’re all set to go. I am very impressed with my organisation this year – it has definitely reduced my stress levels too; must be experience telling me to not leave anything until the last minute! I went to bed reasonably early again as I want to feel as rested as possible."
