Tanja Bairstow and Simon Hughes gave up their lives in London in the winter of 2010 to embark on a Scottish adventure. They now manage Pine Bank Chalets, with the help of Rachel on reception, Zoe the housekeeper, and Bennett the dog. Pine Bank Chalets is a range of self-catering chalets, cabins and apartments set in and around Craigellachie House, on the banks of the River Spey within 10 minutes walk of Aviemore centre.

Simon, a Londoner born and bred, founded his own brand of alcoholic cocktails before moving into marketing for L’Oreal. Tanja moved to London in 2004 and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor, working in city Fund Management. Once the opportunity to take over PBC came about, they both quit their city jobs, sold up and moved up to the Highlands, to be joined shortly afterwards by Bennett the dog.

When not running the chalets, Tanja and Simon enjoy the huge range of outdoor activities the Cairngorms has to offer. Tanja is a keen horse rider and also enjoys cycling and walking. Simon grabs his snowboard and runs off up the hill whenever he can, mountain biking when the snow melts. Bennett loves to greet the guests, run around the lochs and pay the odd visit to the local pub next door.
