The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) has set up Facebook groups dedicated to bringing equestrian enthusiasts across the South East and the South West together. The pages, set up by Anne Clarke the federation's Regional Development Coordinator in the South, offer networking opportunities for the equestrian community in the region.
"I believe the power of Facebook will give the disciplines and bodies we represent and work with a tool to interact more effectively at a regional level,” she said.
"The pages are aimed at coaches, those involved in clubs, charities and businesses in the region, as well as at people who want to try something new with horses. People can become more informed of a whole host of opportunities available to them, even if they don't own a horse or don't currently ride."
Facebook members can check the dates of the region's key events, find out about local initiatives promoting equestrianism, and reach out to more participants as well as learn about the latest volunteering opportunities at major and regional events. Fans are encouraged to post their own news or photos and get involved with topical discussions.
