
On Saturday 4 April, 88 Pony Club members from all over the country entered the Dengie Novice Winter League, with Rachel Graham from the Mid Antrim Branch, riding Bailey, taking the Novice Championship title by a comfortable margin. The Dengie Open Winter League also enjoyed a strong field, and saw Robyn Duns, from the East Lothian Branch of The Pony Club, riding Chillijana Z, clinching the Open Championship title.
The Dengie Winter League Dressage Championships, held the following day, featured nearly 70 competitors vying for the Novice title. Louise Benson from the Barlow Hunt PC Branch, riding Rockstar III, was crowned the winner with a score of 71.11%. The Open Championship was also hotly contested by nearly 30 riders, with Charity Graepel from the Llandeilo and District PC Branch, the eventual winner on a score of 69.68% riding Dublin.
The weekend also included the ever popular Dressage to Music on Sunday, with over 40 entries across the sections.
Cherry Michell, Chairman of The Pony Club, commented: “Both the Dengie Winter League Show Jumping and Dressage Championships are a fantastic display of raw Pony Club talent, as we see such a range across the Members ages and types of ponies taking part.”
