The draw for this year’s Badminton has been announced, and sees William Fox-Pitt as the pathfinder on Macchiato, his winning ride from Bramham 2007 and Luhmühlen 2008. His second ride, Idalgo, is among the last to go.

Zara Phillips and Toytown will start as number 106, so the world champion combination will perform their dressage test at the end of the final session on Friday.

They will also be one of the last combinations to go cross country on Saturday. Ardfield Magic Star, Zara's other ride, will be eighth to go.

Some riders have two horses entered and will decide nearer the time which horse to ride. These include third drawn Georgie Spence with Birthday Night and Song For Gull.

Oli Townend and the talented grey Flint Curtis had drawn the last slot.

There is still a waiting list for the ever popular event – those on the list will only start if others withdraw beforehand.
