H&C's On The Fly shoot with John Bailey attracted media interest yesterday, as John and his guest Parliamentary spokesman Martin Salter fished on the Thames in London. Our intrepid fishermen found that the Thames is packed with fish and cleaner than it has been for 200 years.
The Thames was declared biologically dead in 1957, but now experts have found more than 125 species living in the water and even seals and dolphins have been spotted at London Bridge.
H&C fishing expert and blogger John Bailey, said: "The river is cleaner than it has ever been and we want to show that."
Martin Salter, a Labour MP for Reading and responsible for speaking about fishing in the Commons, said: "I have caught and eaten trout in the Thames and it was delicious. In theory, if a fish is capable of living in the water, it can't be bad to eat. You can only take two fish home a day. But fishing is equally fun just to catch and release."
John and Martin were pictured in last night's London Evening Standard. The new series of On The Fly with John Bailey will be broadcast on Sky 280 and be available online later this year.
