
Top combinations are now confirmed for the Alltech FEI European Championships at Windsor 25-30 August.
Highlights include the world record breaking combination of Edward Gal and Moorlands Totilas, who will be looking to continue their sparkling form from the World Dressage Masters at Hickstead. The Dutch team also boasts Anky van Grunsven aboard her Olympic gold medalist partner Salinero and Adelinde Corneilson with Parzival.
The British team has high hopes for the competition too; Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris hope to replicate their recent good form, National Champion Maria Eilberg and Two Sox should put in a solid performance, Carl Hester will ride Liebling II, and last but not least, Emma Hindle will partner her own Lancet - with whom she came individual seventh at the Beijing Olympics last year.
The British Show jumping team consists of Geoff Billington on Rosinus, Peter Charles on Murkas Pom d'Ami - fresh from victory at Hickstead - Ben Maher on Robin Hood W, Robert Smith on Raging Bull Vangelis S, and Tim Stockdale on Fresh Direct Corlato.
The Whitakers may not be competing in the championship class, but John, Robert, Ellen and William Whitaker have entered the additional competitions held on Thursday and Friday evening. Following Thursday night's H&M Six-Bar, The competitors will feature in a jam-packed Friday night programme - the Alltech World Equestrian Games Gala Night - fast becoming a popular entertainment evening showcasing all of the FEI disciplines and culminating in the H&M Puissance. H&C's new blogger, para dressage rider Natasha Baker, will be performing a pas de deux during the evening's entertainment.
Organisers of the Alltech FEI European Jumping and Dressage Championships 2009 have announced the launch of a new Championship radio station dedicated to the event.
Championship followers will be able to listen to live expert commentary for all of the dressage competition and some of the jumping competitions. In addition, the channel will be packed with live rider interviews, backstage stories and expert views of the championships.
Followers of the competition can now also keep up to date with news and competition results as they happen, thanks to a new text service. Anyone who registers for the service can choose to receive text results for a specific rider or team, or choose to sign up for news from each discipline; see link below.
