International event rider Pippa Funnell claimed her sixth young horse title, winning the five-year-old Burghley Dubarry Young Event Horse final at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.
Pippa won the class with last year’s four-year-old winner, the Billy Stud’s stallion Billy Be Cool and for good measure took second place with stable mate Billy Beware.
Billy Be Cool, along with Clayton Fredericks eighth placed ride Sydney Rocks, gained the highest mark for show jumping from judges Malcolm Pyrah and Rosemary Morris and a scored a high 14 out of 15 for conformation from international show judge David Ingle.
The AES licensed stallion is by Vechta an Oldenburg registered son of Voltaire that William Funnell competed internationally.
“He has such a lovely attitude for a stallion,” said Pippa in the busy collecting afterwards. “He has evented successfully but ultimately he will probably be more of a breeding stallion – Donal (Barnwell owner of the Billy Stud) earmarked him right at the beginning and left him entire for that reason.”
The results of the class were:

1) Billy Be Cool (Vechta) – Pippa Funnell 87.5
2) Billy Beware (Kannan) – Pippa Funnell 85.0
