At the British Dressage National Championships, Carl Hester today added another National Title to his already large collection and now boasts a whopping 50 National titles to his name. Today’s success in the Intermediare I freestyle came on Sasha Stewart’s Metall sired stallion, Uthopia. Carl won the class on over 76%, with his closest rival, Amy Stovold, four per cent behind him.
The title was his second of the day, and third of this year’s competition, having already won the Grand Prix on Donald McTaggart’s Leibling and the Prix Saint Georges earlier in the week, also with Uthopia.
Stephanie Croxford rode an exciting test on Mr President for third place in the Grand Prix, and gestured to her ever popular horse as she received praise after finishing her test.
Tomorrow’s Grand Prix freestyle looks set to be exciting – Carl will take forward the top score, with Maria Eilberg and Steph hot on his heels for the national champion’s title.
The Eilberg family’s sparkling form also continues; Michael won the Advanced Medium on Woodlander Dornroschen, narrowly beating the in-form partnership of Charlotte Du Jardin and Valegro. Michael also took third place in the class on Torino.
