Firefighters performed a seasonal act of goodwill by coming to the aid of two reindeer caught up in travel chaos caused by the bad weather, H&C has leart.
The animals were being towed in a trailer when their owners became stranded in Basingstoke, Hampshire, during the gridlock which gripped the area in the early hours of yesterday. Basingstoke has been amongst the worst hit part of country over the last 48 hours, with snow and feezing conditions causing havoc on the roads.
The reindeer's owners were worried about their welfare, so firefighters found room in Basingstoke fire station for them to stay the night.
Watch manager Dave Williams said: "They were certainly among the more unusual visitors we have had to the station."
