The first UK Stallion Expo took place this weekend at The College in Bedfordshire.

Over fifty sports stallions were in attendance, including dressage, show jumping, event and pony stallions.

The Expo was hoping to attract a couple of thousand spectators and mare owners, but freezing conditions meant that there were around 300 visitors on the Saturday, the busiest of the two days.

Billed on its website as having “over 100 stallions from the UK, Ireland and Europe,” the expo did not manage to achieve those numbers, but did manage a creditable 53 stallions in its catalogue.

However, the stallions in attendance were impressive and included World Champions, European Champions, National Champions and Olympians as well as stallion approval winners and top young performers from all over the UK and Europe. Some of the older stallions who had not been out for a while certainly seemed to be enjoying the occasion.

Stallions were presented in groups according to their age and discipline. Each stallion was presented one at a time in hand and then stood up and trotted up before returning later to the arena for the ridden presentation.

There was a dressage display on the Saturday evening too, with the black Spanish stallion Fulminante - Cen giving a demo alongside some Spanish dancers. The dresasge stallions Keystone Rhondeo, Flammengold, Woodlander Rockstar, Catherston Springsteen and Grafenstolz (who had earlier given a jumping display) all performed dressage to music.
