Donald McTaggart's Liebling II has been sold to Canadian dressage team rider Cheryl Meisner.
The 13-year-old Holstein gelding was part of Britain's silver medal team in Windsor last August, scoring 72.09% in the grand prix with rider Carl Hester. The partnership went on to score 78.45% - a personal best, at the London Olympia World Cup qualifier in December 2009.
"The horse has done an incredible amount for me and the country this past year and it's been a pleasure to ride him," Carl Hester told H&H. "Donald and I had been discussing his future and when Cheryl approached us about buying the horse it seemed like the perfect opportunity, particularly because they clicked straight away."
Carl's WEG prospect now looks to be Sasha Stewart's Uthopia who is making his grand prix debut on the Spanish Sunshine Tour. Hester also has Ann Cory's grand prix horse Dolendo back from injury, and is taking on Anni Macdonald-Hall's stunning Rosso.
"It is a blow to lose Liebling," said BD's team manager Richard Davison. "He and Carl had a fantastic partnership, but Carl has Uthopia and two other horses to contest for the British team this year. It's also great that Donald McTaggart is prepared to continue supporting Carl with young horses for future championships - we are very grateful for his continued support."
