This weekend saw the annual PSHP stallion parade at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire.
There was a strong turnout of around fifty stallions at the event, and a good crowd too.
Lynne Crowden of Woodlander Stud compered the day with insightful and interesting commentary on every stallion.
Stallions from the three main disciplines of dressage, show jumping and eventing were in attendance, as well as pony stallions.
Shirley Light of the Brendon Stud brought five stallions to the parade, and each one jumped an enormous spread in front of the appreciative crowd. Amongst them, Warrior, Don VHP Z and Caretino Glory were particular crowd pleasers.
Dun sport stallion Legrande was a hit, jumping into the arena over the dressage boards. He showed careful style over a fence, particularly in front.
Of the dressage horses, Treliver Decanter looked fantastic as did his half brother Woodlander Del Amitri, also by Dimaggio. The other Woodlander stallions also put on quite a show, with Wavavoom having matured and settled in his work impressively since the UK Stallion Expo in February. The youngest stallion of the day, Woodlander Santana, a rising three year old also showed what a trainable brain he has putting on a lovely display having been ridden off the lunge fewer than a dozen times in his life.
Sandro's Dancer, a young stallion by Sandro Hit out of a Master mare also looked impressive, looking more like his damsire than his sire.
Balubet du Rouet made a rare appearance. Shown on the flat only, the twenty-year-old show jumping performance and breeding legend looked the picture of health. Some spectators were disappointed that he was not shown in the gala evening, but fans were encouraged to go and meet him in the stables.
The Donnerhall son Donnersohn represented the retired dressage sires. At 16hh he is being offered at a reduced rate to pony mares to produces sport and dressage ponies.
Eventing stallion Revolution was shown with two of his offspring, including a four-year-old gelding who showed a lovely balanced canter, good scope over a fence and a lovely attitude. Weston Justice and Persiflage also caught the eye in the eventing section.
