The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials from 2-5 September 2010 and the British Bred Sport Horse (BBSH, formerly PSHP) are staging a third stallion parade in the young horse ring on Friday 3 September.
BBSH is the body for Performance Sport Horses and Ponies as called for in the Strategy for the Horse Industry 2005. With its setup facilitated by the BEF, BBSH’s supporters comprise studbooks, individual breeders and competition disciplines. This umbrella body seeks to improve communication between its supporters and continue to drive up the standards in the quality and breeding of British bred sport horses and ponies.
Up to 20 ridden stallions, including proven event sires, all of which are graded, will parade at lunchtime in a spectacle for all visitors to the horse trials, giving breeders plenty of time to view and pick their eventing sires for next breeding season.
Says Event Director Elizabeth Inman: “The British Equestrian Federation and BBSH have been working together for several years now to improve the quality and breeding of our horses and ponies. We are pleased to be linking with BBSH once again to showcase these stallions for the future of sport horse breeding. This year, by popular demand, we will give priority to sires known for or likely to produce event horses”.
Stallion entry forms are now available at British Bred Sport Horse and The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials and will be taken on a first come first served basis. A list of stallions entered will be available on these websites when entries close.
