Parzival invincible at Hickstead

Parzival scored a host of 9s to take the WDM grand prix

Adelinde Cornelissen and her Jazz sired Dutch gelding Jerich Parzival once again made their mark in the lead up the the World Equestrian Games it the World Dressage Masters grand prix at Hickstead, Sussex.

The pair scored a whopping 81.362%, well ahead of second placed Laura Bechtolsheimer with a creditable 73.36%. Parzival showed a fluid tests, devod of the mistakes and tension that he can sometimes exhibit in the competition arena. The basic quality of the horse's paces, coupled with some very clever riding on Adelinde's part ensured the 9s came rolling in in a number of movements.

Great Britain's Laura B stood second with the seasoned campaigner Andretti. Laura belied her years and showed a polished test with no real areas of weakness. Third place went to Holland with Hans Peter Minderhoud and Exquis Nadine scoring 70.93%. The pair started off strongly but Nadine did not appear to want to play ball, and the piaffes lacked clarity. On the final centreline the pasage became very muddied and she stood up.

Fourth place went to the ever popular Carl Hester, who has been reunited with Leibling in a bid to secure a place on the team for WEG. The pair scored 70.21%. Carl has had flu all week and rode a rather conservative test as he is still not feeling at his best. He was pleased with the horse's performance but will have to wait until Monday to find out whether he has been selected.

Totilas was entered for Hickstead but Edward pulled him out ten days before the competition as he decided to save him for the World Equestrian Games.

Tomorrow sees the culmination of dressage at Hickstead with the six year old championship and the World Dressage Masters Grand Prix Special and the Kur. All the action will be streamed LIVE from 10am.
