Simon is Best Puppy at National Gundog Show

Simon, a local Pointer puppy from Warwick, won the prestigious Best Puppy in Show award at the National Gundog Show which was held in Malvern last weekend. This was Simon’s 19th win at dog shows, but it will be his last title as a puppy as he turned a year old this weekend.
A healthy attitude to breeding
Simon was shown last weekend by his owner Lynda Adams, and he is co-owned with his breeder Tricia Grime. As a Kennel Club Accredited Breeder, Tricia has always known Simon would do well, as he is testament to a professional and healthy attitude towards breeding. Kennel Club Accredited Breeders agree to have all of the required health tests for their dogs carried out and follow comprehensive guidelines to ensure their dogs have the best chance of producing happy, healthy puppies.
Show off Simon
Lynda Adams said: “Simon is a bit of an extrovert and a show off, so it is no wonder he has done so well over the past six months. Simon is healthy and full of life - he loves playing with the other dogs in our family and is fascinated by birds. He has done so well at shows as a puppy and it is great to go out on top at a highly competitive show such as the National Gundog Show. We are now looking forward to seeing him take the adult dog world by storm.”
Advantages of showing
Simon is one of countless dogs who are helping to demonstrate the many advantages of dog showing. Dog shows are an incentive to breed healthy dogs, a forum to monitor whether this is being done and a platform to educate the breeders and owners of the future. They are a celebration of man’s relationship with his dog, and attending shows brings dogs and their owners closer together, ensuring that both get out in the fresh air to enjoy exercise, have a good time, meet friends and socialise.
The National Gundog Show is one of 37 major Championship Dog shows throughout the year that enable dogs to qualify for the world’s largest dog show, dfs Crufts, in March 2011.
