Charity polo event for the air ambulance

A one off charity polo day is taking place on 18 September 2010 in White Waltham, Berkshire. Hosted by Stuart Craig, Bluey's Farm Polo and Absolut Polo the event will raise money for the Berks, Oxon and Bucks Air Ambulance.
Fast paced action ahoy
The day includes two games of fast paced polo and plenty of spectator participation with traditional divot stomping, a champagne dash and the Stella stampede. The event provides something for everyone, including a raffle and auction - one of the auction items is a lesson from Andrew Hoy - if you've always wanted to have a go at polo and have a competitive spirit, then join the wooden horse competition.
Gates open at midday for welcome drinks, followed by a talk from a representative of the Berks, Oxon and Bucks Air Ambulance. After which a buffet and barbecue lunch will be laid on, along with the chance to meet and talk to the players.
Learn the rules
The day promises to be a great way to introduce people to the sport of polo: There will be an insight into the rules of polo before the matches begin, and a knowledgeable commentator to keep spectators informed and amused throughout play.
Evening entertainment
When the daytime activities finish at 6.30pm, the after polo party begins, complete with DJ and a surprise band.
Amazing air ambulance
The chosen charity, the Air Ambulance, is totally voluntarily funded. It is critical for saving lives in road traffic accidents as well as horse riding incidents where other transport cannot access the scene.
The red and yellow helicopter is based at RAF Benson, Oxfordshire, and carries a full range of life saving medical equipment plus two fully qualified paramedics. The helicopter is operated in daylight hours, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and is equipped to treat and care in the air.
Charley Cudworth, event organiser, said: "We are delighted that the Air Ambulance is our charity for this exciting event. On a more personal note, I am a rider and friends of mine have been rescued by the Air Ambulance, so I want to raise money for them as a token of gratitude for their work in the past as well as to secure their future."
