Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall will hand out the Organic Food Awards at the annual Soil Association Organic Food Festival in Bristol, on Saturday 11 September.

Best organic food

Now in their 22nd year, the Soil Association Organic Food Awards showcase the very best in organic food and drink, and highlight the imaginative and successful ways in which individuals and companies are contributing to the renaissance in organic, local and seasonal food.

58 expert judges - including chefs, restaurateurs, food writers and nutritionists - sniffed, nibbled, sipped and chewed their way though over 600 different products in 12 categories at a four-day tasting marathon hosted at the Duke of Cambridge organic pub in London. Judging in all categories is by blind tasting and all products are judged on taste, smell, texture and appearance.

Deserving producers

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall said: "It is a pleasure to be handing out the Organic Food Awards this year to such devoted and deserving producers. And of course most of all I look forward to sampling their fantastic produce."

Geetie Singh, judge and owner of the Duke of Cambridge remarked: "The Organic Food Awards are a celebration of great organic food that is produced sustainably and to the highest welfare and environmental standards, food that has top quality provenance and an interesting story to tell."
