The Fletchers will be offering a day at their yard to the winner

A new 'Apprentice-style' competition to find the North's best up and coming show jumper will make its debut at next month's Countryside Live in Yorkshire.

New champion to be crowned

The contest, proposed and hosted by equestrian superstars Graham and Tina Fletcher, will see eager-to-learn riders put through their paces during the two day rural showcase on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October. After a number of heats, the climax will be on Sunday afternoon when the overall winner will be named by Graham
and Tina as the Countryside Live Champion Show Jumper 2010.

A challenge

Graham explains: "We want riders from across Yorkshire and bordering counties to come forward and enter this exciting new competition. Not only is it an opportunity to pick up the silverware and perform in front of a crowd, but hopefully it will help improve technique and style. The course will be tailored to the rider's experience and ability so it will vary from competitor to competitor. We'll make it fun but we will stretch them and it will be challenging!"

Fletcher facts

A world class international show jumper, Graham has been involved in the sport at the highest level for over 20 years. His successes include an Olympic Silver medal, team member for three Olympic Games and winner of many International Grand Prixs. As Britain's leading lady rider, Tina has had a great season and will be coming to the show virtually straight from competing in the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. She has won the Queen Elizabeth Cup three times, as well as winning numerous international and UK competitions. Graham and Tina produce and
train horses and riders from all over the world.

A special prize

The winner of the competition will win the chance to spend the day at Graham and Tina's yard in Oxfordshire.
