This season is set to be very exciting for British breeding, with two high profile stallion parades organised for the beginning of the breeding season, and a number of others to follow around the country .
Both parades have attracted top riders and horses.
Saturday January 29 sees the BEF organised British Bred Sport Horse (BBSH) Stallion Event at Hartpury College. The full list of stallions attending can be found here and includes top names such as Emma Hindle, who will be bringing four stallions. She will perform her grand prix to music routine under a spotlight with Chequille Z, who will be appearing in public for the first time in the UK.
Woodlander stud will be bringing four stallions, including the homebred Rockstar, who has lived up to his name and had great success this season under Maria Eilberg, both in the UK and abroad at the Sunshine Tour.
Other top horses include Grafenstoltz, the much acclaimed triple bundeschampionat contender and the highly successful showjumper Raging Bull Vangelis S, who is owned by Phil Vickery, of England rugby fame and dressage stallion Zamboucca, who features in our sample Stud Break advert.
H&C will be filming at both stallion parades. For more information on our brand new advertising initiative, Stud Break, click here.
The Stallion Showcase GB is not to be outdone, however, and sees the likes of John Whitaker aboard the show jumping sensation Peppermill.
The Showcase will exhibit stallions over two days at Addington Manor, and organiser Shirley Light hopes the longer format show will encourage people to visit the stallions in the stable block.
A full list of those attending can be found here. Other highlights include the Irish stallion Power Blade, now standing in the UK at Oliver Townend’s new stud venture, and the Oldenburg approved buckskin showjumping stallion Legrande, owned by Lynn Al Redha. Amy Stovold will be bringing the young Dutch stallion Zanzibar de la Gesse.
2011 is a very exciting year for British breeding – Woodlander Stud’s fabulous mare Farouche may well be headed for Verden for the young horse championships, the BEF Futurity scheme continues to go from strength to strength and of course H&C will be running Stud Break for the first time ever. Lots to celebrate this year, so get behind these events and lets see packed stands.
