Video: Carl Hester and Lee Pearson to join Spanish Riding School?

By katie on 30th-Mar-2011

If you've never seen the famous Spanish Riding School of Vienna and their beautiful Lipizzaner stallions perform live, then make a date in your diary to make sure you're at London's Wembly Arena in November 2011. The School will be peforming an impressive display called Imperial Dream, including the Capriole, Levade and Courbette, that offers you a rare opportunity to see breathtaking riding and the results of disciplined training. Full tour details can be found beneath the videos below.

Carl Hester and Lee Pearson to join the Spanish Riding School

H&C went along to the launch of the Spanish Riding School tour and we were thrilled to meet rider Rudi Rostek from the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, and surprised and delighted to see Carl Hester and Lee Pearson alongside him! We were intrigued to know what Carl and Lee's association was with the School. We took our trusty camera along - watch our interviews with Carl Hester, Lee Pearson and Spanish Riding School rider Rudi Rostek to find out more.

"The Germans have got a nice black horse now, can we borrow that?"

In this video, Jenny Rudall discovers why Team GB's famous Olympian Carl Hester and Paraolympian Lee Pearson are so honoured to be involved with the Spanish Riding School, what they'll be doing on the tour and their fears of what the Bereiters might think of their riding. You may need to adjust the sound on your computer to watch this interview.

"Wembly arena is a small venue."

In this video, Jenny Rudall meets Rudi Rostek of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna. Find out about the horses he works with, how many he is responsible for, the infamous training regime he must adopt as a rider and why he thinks Wembly Arena is a small venue. Fascinating fact: Rudi has been with the Spanish Riding School since 1991. He spent ten years as an 'Eleve' (trainee rider) before qualifying as a rider. He hasn't been kicked or fallen off in more than 20 years - he says the stallions are "so placid and well behaved". Jealous? Us? You bet. Watch Jenny's interview with Rudi below. You may need to adjust the sound on your computer to watch this interview.
