Toddy heads to Kentucky

Can Mark Todd win Kentucky too?

Last weekend's Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials winner, Mark Todd, along with fellow competitors including William Fox-Pitt, Oliver Townend and Mary King, this week again compete at the very top level against one another. This time, the riders have left British turf to compete at America's only CCI4* level competition, the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event in Lexington.

Riders fly to join horses

The riders all flew out to join their horses (who were transported prior to Badminton, following of quarantine restrictions) and will today be preparing for the initial veterinary inspection. The full timetable can be found here and a full list of competitors and horses is here.

Clayton Fredericks spoke to us at Badminton about his plans for Kentucky. Watch our interview on our Badminton video page.

Last year's Rolex Kentucky winner was Britain's William Fox-Pitt with Teresa Stopford Sackville's Cool Mountain.

Grand slam

The Rolex Kentucky 3DE is part of the Rolex Grand Slam which was founded in 2001. This prize is awarded to any rider who wins the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials and the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials in any consecutive order regardless of the calendar year. The only person to win the accolade so far is Pippa Funnell with Primmores Pride and Supreme Rock. Watch our interview with Pippa here: www.horseandcountry.tv/william_pippa_funnell2
