Take Britain’s top elite riders, the most talented amateurs and premier dressage horses in the country and what do you have? The Dressage Deluxe National Dressage Championships.
Starting today and running until Sunday, the championships are the celebration of the best in the sport of dressage. They are held at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, and during the four days a total of 22 national classes from prelim to Prix St Georges, plus para dressage and the young horse championships, will be contested. The overall British National Champion will be crowned on Sunday afternoon.
The entries read like a ‘who’s who’ of dressage, and competition promises to be fierce. European Championship team gold medallists Carl Hester, Laura Bechtolsheimer and Charlotte Dujardin top the billing. Carl and Charlotte go head to head in Thursday’s Horse Health Intermediate II Championships, and Laura will be riding Andretti H in the feature Dressage Deluxe Grand Prix Championship on Saturday.
As well as competing, Laura Bechtolsheimer will be giving a Masterclass, plus H&C favourite Richard Davison will be explaining freestyle. The ‘Bad Boys’ Pas de Deux from Charlie Hutton and Henry Boswell is also set to be a crowd favourite.
H&C will be following the progress of blogger Alice Oppenheimer in all her classes - good luck Alice.
The H&C web team will be keeping you up to date with all the action and be tweeting from the event on Sunday; as well as bringing you rider interviews and photo galleries in our brand new live reports page.
