Top showman Rob Walker scored a one-two on the opening day of HOYS, winning the Small Hunter of the Year title with Jill Day's Party Time V. Rob backed up the win with a second place on Goldern Tassett, who also belongs to Jill Day.
The Cuddy Working Hunter was hotly contested, with show jumper Derek Morton finishing top on Keep Talking. Louise Bell, who is married to former international show jumper Robert Bell, was second.
The course was innovative, with one fence paying tribute to Stonehenge.
The second day started off with some of our most diminiutive show horses, with the judging of the Miniature Horse of the Year title. The spoils went to Scott Creek My Key To Fashion, who belongs to Brenda Thompson. Brenda also owns Scott Creek Monarch Red Grafitti who was reserve.
As usual, the ridden mountain and moorlands were among the best supported of the showing classes. The overall ridden M&M champion was Laura Rowe and Sydenham King George, the Welsh Section D winner.
At the other end of the size scale, six horses went through to the judging of the prestigious Hunter of the Year title. The two heavyweights were Oliver Hood on Act Flyn Lad plus Robert Oliver on Loughleigh Dancing Lord; the middleweights were represented by Danielle Heath on Oathill Take The Biscuit plus Camilla Davies on Standing Ovation II; while in the lightweights Leon King on Loch Royal II and Katie Jerram on Dunbeacon came forward.
The overall title went to Danielle Heath and Oathill Take The Biscuit, while Oliver Hood and Act Flyn Lad finished reserve. Watch Danielle's magical lap of honour here.
