Video: First ever maxi cob champion crowned

By Victoria Spicer on 8th-Oct-2011

Simon Reynolds and Hallmark IX made history today when they took the first ever maxi cob championship at HOYS. Simon was delighted with his win, particularly as it came after a difficult 24 hours during which he lost another horse and was involved in a car accident.

Watch his lap of honour here.

The overall Equimax/Eraquell Cob of the Year Championship saw success for Robert Walker with Camilla Neame’s magnificent heavyweight, Starry Night. Robert took the title for the fourth time, while reserve was taken by Tom Cream of the Antartic ridden by Charles Le Moignan.

Pony power

The Carrs BMW Lead Rein Pony of Hunter Type of the Year resulted in a win for Netherfield Mr Rochester. Owner Allison Evans was overcome with joy as her daughter Hattie saw off 19 other combinations to take the title ahead of reserve Nantlais Gwerthfawr.

Having come second in last year’s 122cm Show Hunter Pony of the Year, Harriet Dennison thoroughly deserved taking the championship this year on the stunning Crystal Vision, a chestnut mare by Soudley Taliesin.
