Windsor Horse Show is set for a glittering 2012 season, with this year's show hosting an array of red carpet stars and their horses in celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Visitors include Italy’s Carosello de Carabiniere, Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Oman’s Royal Cavalry Activity Ride, Russia’s display from the Kremlin Equestrian School, India’s Marwarhi Dancing Horses and Australia’s New South Wales Police Force Activity Ride.
As the first major outdoor show of the season, and the only annual event that allows visitors access to Her Majesty The Queen’s private grounds at Windsor, this year’s Royal Windsor Horse Show is set to be bigger and better than ever before.
More than 3,000 horses and ponies, including Her Majesty’s own, will take part in over 170 classes; from favourites such as The Land Rover International Driving Grand Prix, top class showjumping, 150 showing classes, to the ever popular displays including The Pony Club Mounted Games, Tent Pegging and The Best Turned Out Trooper.
Simon Brooks Ward, Managing Director of H Power and Event Director said: “We are enormously excited by the international stars that will be joining us at this year’s line-up for Royal Windsor Horse Show. And it’s wonderful to be able to bring a flavour of the Diamond Jubilee Pageant celebrations to our loyal horse show visitors. As a passionate horsewoman, The Royal Windsor Horse Show is close to The Queen’s heart, and every year she attends to watch her horses and ponies compete.”
This year’s five-day show kicks off with Hunter Showing classes and the Horse & Hound Foxhunter jumping competition on Wednesday 9 May and culminates in The Alltech Grand Prix on Sunday 13 May.
