Former Olympic champion Ludger Beerbaum will not be competing in Greenwich this summer, after ruling himself out of contention for the Games.
Ludger, who won team gold for Germany in 1988, 1996 and 2000 as well as individual gold in 1992, is currently competing at the CHIO Aachen.
Having picked up 15 faults in a warm up class yesterday on the 11-year-old Gotha, he decided the mare wasn't ready to compete at the Olympics.
