The Household Cavalry is to launch a book of stunning photography tomorrow (18 July) at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, in the presence of The Princess Royal.
'Uniquely British' covers a year in the life of the mounted regiment, from the Royal Wedding to the Diamond Jubilee. It provides a fascinating insight into these historic events, with intimate photos as well as comments and notes from the officers and soldiers themselves.
The idea for the book came from Lieutenant Colonel Dan Hughes, the regiment's commanding officer, who described it as a "story of dedication and devoted service to Queen and Country".
"This book embodies the very best of British heritage and tradition, and reflects the high standards of excellence all have come to expect from the Household Cavalry, whether on ceremonial duties in London, or on the frontline in Afghanistan,” he said.
All proceeds from will be donated to the Household Cavalry Foundation, which supports its soldiers, veterans, casualties and horses. Costs for the first print have been generously covered by the Marriott Hotel chain.
"Uniquely British is dedicated to those Household Cavalrymen who have lost their lives or been injured in the service of their country,” Dan said.
