Murka's Vindicat W - the horse Peter Charles rode to win team gold in the Olympic showjumping - has been sold to America.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Peter paid tribute to the 10-year-old gelding: "Vinnie is one of the best horses I have ever ridden, so the decision to move him on has not come lightly. He produced an outstanding performance to secure Team Gold for Britain for the first time in 60 years, and I will never forget how that felt and how unbelievably proud he made me and my team feel."
The reason behind the sale is to allow the team to invest in new horses in preparation for the 2016 Olympics. Vindicat will be ridden by American showjumper Jessica Springsteen, daughter of rock star Bruce. "I wish Jessica the best of luck with him and I am sure he will make her proud, too," Peter added.
Peter has not competed since the Games, due to a groin injury. He is in hospital today (Wednesday 19 September) for an operation.
