Rescue dog saves baby's life

Duke saved Harpers life by alerting her parents to the fact that the baby had stopped breathing

A rescue dog has saved the life of a nine-week-old baby, after alerting his owners that she had stopped breathing.

Insanely obedient

Duke was adopted by Jenna Brousseau and her busband, who live in Portland in America, six years ago and according to the couple he has always been very well-behaved. So when he jumped on to their bed one night and started shaking, they knew something was wrong.

“He is insanely obedient so this was extremely bizarre,” said Jenna. “I knew right away something was wrong.”

The couple then went into their baby’s nursery and discovered that Harper had stopped breathing. Jenna’s husband immediately called for an ambulance, and paramedics were able to revive the tiny baby.

Perfect dog

“The ambulance only came here because our Dukey alerted us,” said Jenna. “If he hadn’t been so scared we would have gone to sleep.”

Jenna hopes that her story, which shows the devotion of their family pet, will encourage other people to adopt a rescue dog.

“He’s the perfect dog he was meant to be ours,” she said.
