Could you find a canine Valentine with the Dogs Trust?

Nothing warms the heart like a cold wet nose, and this Valentine's weekend Dogs Trust is hosting a special ‘Blind Date’ matchmaking event to help homeless dogs find new owners, H&C is heartwarmed to hear.

On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February, Dogs Trust Glasgow will set the Valentine's mood with love heart balloons and staff will matchmake potential new owners with their perfect pooch. Set to help shy, overlooked dogs, the pairings will be based on lifestyle and requirements rather than physical looks.

Canine carers will help new matches get to know each other by chaperoning them on their ‘first date’ walk around the centre grounds, while reception staff have created a special ‘love-o-meter’ display for updates on the dogs that find love over Valentine’s weekend.

Sandra Downie, Dogs Trust Glasgow centre manager, explains: “Lots of overlooked dogs found new homes at our Valentine ‘Blind Dates’ last year and we really hope this year we’ll be even more successful.

The relaxed, outdoors date setting will give our dogs the opportunity to show people what loveable, playful companions they could be.

If you’re looking for a Tender Loving Canine in your life, come along for a date with one of the 100 dogs we have looking for new homes!”

Two residents hoping to find love this Valentines are Jack Russell Terrier Cu-Beag and crossbreed Brodie, an inseparable ten-year-old couple looking for a cosy retirement home with lots of cuddles. Both are very affectionate and would fit in well with a family with kids aged eight or over.

The Valentine's event will run from 12 noon to 4pm, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February at 315 Hamilton Road, Uddingston, Glasgow G71 7SL.

For more information call the centre on 0141 773 5130.
