Settling into a new base

Olympic bronze medallist Sharon Hunt is ranked among the top 50 event riders in the world. She competes on horses at all levels and travels throughout the UK and beyond to compete. Each week she updates H&C on her progress in her exclusive blog.
"I've moved! I've had the most brilliant week, but also the busiest. In true to form style I still went jumping to Keysoe on Wednesday with six horses just to keep us extra busy! They all jumped well, Brian went to his first show in months and jumped round the British Novice and Discovery really well as did Bertie. Tweedy was clear in discovery and 1.05, Harry won the Discovery and Bambi was 2nd, Imp was 3rd in the Newcomers too.
This however was a distraction from the organised chaos in both my yards, Bury and Kent. Moving 16 horses and their gear is hard enough, but moving a four bedroom house is even worse. I've had as much furniture from friends as possible! House looks great though; I'm useless at unpacking so sure boxes will still be full a few weeks down the line, but besides this all looks very homely. I've not had my own place for a while so needing practice again, changed my first light bulb for a while tonight!
Bedgebury is going to be the most amazing place. We have two indoor schools, an outdoor, xc course, gallop field and it backs onto 3000 acres of woodland which is the best hacking I've ever had - no need to visit the gallops anymore as there are tracks everywhere and hills too. I've come from an area where farmers hate you on their land even at harvest time, so this really is a treat. The dogs love it too, I take them on a 45 minute walk at least or a bike ride through the forest - if I'm not incredibly fit soon too I'll be amazed. I never thought I'd be so into the scenery but I really can't imagine there is anywhere more beautiful on earth! Very peaceful too. Summer will be something else I'm sure.
I was sorry to go though, I've lived at the same home for 15 years and suddenly all change. I know it's for the best though but still leaving my family and best friends is hard. They'll all come to visit though I hope! I'll also see my family and owners at events most weekends so will be no different I'm sure. Ironically my parents are having their house kitchen knocked down these next few weeks and the boiler is off so a good time to be out of there!
We had a couple of open days at Bedgebury which went well, with many people viewing the place despite the rain on Sunday (which was fine for me in my indoor school!) And then glorious weather on Monday. A typically busy week ahead but looks set to be a really good one, and at last the weather too."
